He is the author of “How to Successfully Transition Students into College: From Traps to Triumph” and international keynote speaker on learning strategies. As founder of The LearnWell Projects, he is devoted to making learning more visible, manageable, and successful.

Dr. Joe Kim is an award-winning Professor in Psychology, Neuroscience & Behaviour at McMaster University, and is sought out for his work in the science of teaching and learning.  He coordinates the esteemed first-year MacIntroPsych program, directs the Education and Cognition Lab. In addition to these achievements, he is an organizer behind EdCog, the annual McMaster conference on Education & Cognition.

Dr. Deena Kara Shaffer is the founder of Awakened Learning where her mission is to transform education, offering holistic learning strategy support to students, families, educators, and organizations.
